Get active in Cork with a selection of outdoor activities including:
high wire courses
kayaking on the River Lee
orienteering through the city
walking trails
cycling routes and golf courses.
Or why not take in one of the many hurling, regarded by many as the fastest ball game on earth, Gaelic Football or rugby matches which take place regularly in the city.
On Land
Corkonians love being out and about around their city and county so for land lubbers there are a myriad of activities available. If you're mad for the outdoors you'll be coming to the right place with plenty of options for those who love hill walking, orienteering, mountain climbing, golf, horse riding and many others.
One of the Ireland's top ten attractions is Fota Wildlife Park near Cobh which is a guaranteed hit with kids.
If you'd prefer to stay indoors or the weather scuppers your plans for fresh air activities, fear not! Cork's vibrant traditional Irish live music scene, theatres, markets, shopping centres, greyhound racing, restaurants, casinos and much more will tickle your fancy.
On Water
Cork City is built on a series of islands and intermittant river channels, only two of which are visible around the city - the north and south channels (this often confuses visitors navigating their way around who don't realise there are "two" River Lees!).
The two channels lead into Cork's enormous harbour with 15 miles of water that rowing clubs, sailing clubs, motorboating enthusiasts, windsurfers and squba divers relish.
Everybody these days is watching the pennies. Never fear, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on fun and interesting things to do, though some do depend on the weather…. a little;
Blue flag beaches
Farmers Markets
Forests, parks and public gardens
Ringfinnane Garden of Remembrance Kinsale (Memorial to the fire-fighters who died on 9/11)
